GOOD MUSIC NEVER DIES

In the late afternoon of May 10th, 2003, the story of Systems in Blue began: Thomas Widrat, a songwriter in the late twenties, affirmed the three singers Rolf Köhler, Detlef Wiedeke and Michael Scholz to produce an 80s style song. Since the three guys thought about a similar idea just a couple of months ago, they liked that idea instantly. At that time, Rolf, Detlef, and Michael had the dream to keep on doing what they enjoyed doing for 16 years. The guys`voices provided what the fans still love so much regarding the sound of Modern Talking and Blue System to innumerable Bohlen productions. Thus, the foundation for Systems in Blue was laid right at that time.
Rolf, Detlef and Michael already are established as the most successful background singers of Germany. Moreover, they are very successful as composers, producers, arrangers, and sound technicians. To top it all, everyone of them even has had a solo career in the past. Thomas, who completely committed himself to German and English lyrics, acts as an exclusive text author for the project, while Detlef, Michael and Rolf take the composing part. The three singers also are the main act which means that they will perform the songs of Systems in Blue on stage. However, the team consists of four guys who interact with each other without many words. They are doing their work with a large amount of passion and perfection which one of the basic conditions for successful work.
Two weeks later, the four met again in order to discuss further details of the planned project which just had the work title “Systems in Blue” at that time. During the meeting, the guys compiled a concrete concept. Due to various different productions, Rolf and Michael were short of time in the following weeks. Hence, Detlef and Thomas already started working on the first songs during the summer months. That was the time when “Magic Mystery” was written. In September, the four guys met in the studio and started working on the first songs of Systems in Blue. Meanwhile, Michael and Rolf had not been dormant. Both of them also had worked on some music ideas concerning their common project.
In October 2003, even before the first songs were mastered, the media got to know about the project and the planned album track “Magic Mystery” which is dedicated to the 1989-Blue System track “Magic Symphony” was forced by the media to be the debut single track. Furthermore, the internal work title “Systems in Blue” became the label name for “mystery popmusic” in the style of the late eighties and nineties.
Rolf, Detlef, Michael & Thomas have the aim to prove that this designation is justified.
